Futurebirds
After more than 15 years together, Futurebirds have channeled everything they’ve lived and learned into Far Out Country—a double album that expands their signature cosmic Americana into something deeper, stranger, and more fully realized.
Fronted by three distinct singer-songwriters—Daniel “Womz” Womack, Carter King, and Thomas “Tojo” Johnson—the band writes in conversation, their voices shaped by a shared history but diverging perspectives. Across 18 songs, Far Out Country unfolds like a dialogue about how to be: how to carry grief, how to hold onto love, and how to keep moving without losing yourself. Or, as the album puts it, “the devil’s real and his name is ‘one day.’”
Produced by Grammy-winner Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman), the record is split into two distinct worlds of Far Out Country I and II —a restless, sunlit “day” and a deeper, more interior “night”—blending psychedelic country-rock, indie, and something that feels less like a genre than a place
In a rare physical-first approach, the band will release the full project as a double vinyl on June 5, with the second half of the album arriving on streaming platforms months later, making vinyl the only way to experience the complete record early.
With over 110 million streams to date and past support from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The New Yorker, Paste, and more, Futurebirds have built a reputation as one of the most compelling live bands in the genre—touring alongside acts like The Head & The Heart, CAAMP, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Shakey Graves. A summer headline run will bring Far Out Country to major markets nationwide.
As Rolling Stone wrote, they remain “the most captivating rock act touring today”—a band still in motion, still asking the question at the heart of Far Out Country: how to keep going, and how to be present in your own life while you do.
